In loving memory of
Eleanor 'Ellie' Mae Thompson
12th January 1954 to 4th May 2023
"Ellie had a way of making the ordinary feel extraordinary. I'll never forget her spontaneous 'tea party' picnics in the garden, even on the chilliest of days, complete with her slightly burned, but always delicious shortbread."
- Shared by her niece, Clara

Eulogy
Eleanor 'Ellie' Mae Thompson passed away peacefully at her home on 4th May 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Manchester on 12th January 1954, Ellie spent her life cultivating joy, beauty and connection in the world around her.
A passionate librarian for over four decades, she instilled the love of reading in countless young minds. Her retirement didn't slow her down; she became a dedicated master gardener, transforming her small back garden into an award-winning urban oasis. Ellie was a quiet, constant force of kindness. She was known for her dry wit, her ability to make a perfect cup of tea and her unwavering belief in the power of a handwritten letter. She dedicated many years to volunteering at a local animal shelter, always taking a special interest in the "unadoptable" older cats.
Ellie leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert; her two children Daniel and Chloe; and found cherished grandchildren, along with a community deeply touched by her gentle spirit. Her legacy is one of simple pleasures, enduring warmth and the quiet dignity of a life well-lived.
